REF NO.: 8

SUBJECT: Students, alumni invited to Career and Graduate School Fair on Sept. 26

DATE: September 25, 2018

Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic (CNA) are partnering to host the 19th annual Career and Graduate School Fair.

Employers, organizations, government agencies and post-secondary institutions from across North America will be at the Field House on Memorial University’s St. John’s campus on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The two post-secondary institutions have collaborated for a number of years to offer a comprehensive career and graduate school event for students and alumni from both establishments. This is the second year the fair is being held under one roof.

This year, approximately 100 local, national and international exhibitors will be at the fair. A full list of exhibitors is available here. The fair is open to all Memorial and CNA students and alumni who are looking to network with potential employers, searching for career direction or considering furthering their education.

The Graduate School Expo, a collaboration with Memorial’s School of Graduate Studies running alongside the career fair, helps current and prospective graduate students and alumni  learn about graduate applications, funding and career options. Jennifer Browne, interim director of Student Life at Memorial University, says the fair is a networking opportunity designed for students and alumni to make valuable career connections with employers and professional schools.

“The Career and Graduate School Fair is a great opportunity for students to increase their awareness of available career and further education prospects, including new grad positions, summer employment, co-op placements and grad programs” said Ms. Browne.  “Over 100 exhibitors are attending and all are interested in talking to and recruiting Memorial University and College of the North Atlantic students and alumni.  I encourage all students and alumni to invest in their future, and drop by to make connections.”

Elizabeth (Libby) Chaulk, CNA’s vice president academics and student services, says this year’s MUN & CNA Career and Graduate School Fair is yet another exciting opportunity for the college to partner with MUN and offer a day that’s jam-packed with career prospects in today’s labour market.

“This event will open the doors for many students and graduates, and provide the ideal platform for them to network with industry experts, as well as the available educational prospects to pursue graduate studies,” said Chaulk. “We also know the Career and Graduate School Fair has a reciprocal benefit for the numerous exhibitors and participants. They have a full day to show the workforce of the future what they have to offer when it comes to expertise and professional opportunities. We are excited to be involved in this event again this year, and look forward to hearing the success stories that evolve from it.”

Admission to the Memorial University and CNA Career and Graduate School Fair is free. Students and alumni are reminded that they will be required to show their ID cards at the door.
