SUBJECT: PSA: Memorial one of six universities to partner on groundbreaking health promotion movement

This afternoon, Memorial University will partner in leading an international effort to create campuses that will improve the health and well-being of students, faculty, staff and the community.

Memorial University joins the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Mount Royal University, the University of Lethbridge and the University of Calgary as the first universities to formally adopt the Okanagan Charter: An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges. The charter calls on post-secondary institutions to commit to embedding health and well-being into all institutional policies and practices.

Dr. Gary Kachanoski, president and vice-chancellor; Dr. TA Loeffler, professor, School of Human Kinetics and Recreation; and Dr. Peter Cornish, director, Student Wellness and Counselling Centre; will sign the Okanagan Charter this afternoon.
