SUBJECT: Memorial University extends nomination deadline for public engagement partnership award

DATE: July 4, 2016

The nomination deadline for the President’s Award for Public Engagement Partnership has been extended to Friday, July 15.

“The public engagement partnership award is unique at Memorial in that it is awarded not to an individual, but to a collaboration,” said Dr. Gary Kachanoski, president and vice-chancellor. “Students, faculty and staff at Memorial connect with the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, and beyond, in so many interesting and productive ways. These public engagement partnerships contribute to Memorial’s academic mission, but also to the health and sustainability of this province. This award recognizes not just the impact of these collaborations, but also the process of successful partnership, including a focus on mutual contributions, mutual respect and mutual benefits.”

Nominated partnerships must include members from both within and outside the university. The activities or projects of the nominated partnership may be new or ongoing but must be active in the current calendar year. Nominated partnerships can be from any discipline and from any geographic area of the province and must demonstrate mutual contribution and mutual benefit with public partners and collaborators

Nominees cannot be previous recipients of the award. The award will consist of a personalized scroll, a monetary award of $1,000 and the development of a short video in partnership with the winner. Nominations are invited from members of the public and from the university community, and will be accepted here until July 15, 2016.
