SUBJECT: Individual donor to give major gift to Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine

Dr. Gary Kachanoski, president and vice-chancellor, Memorial University of Newfoundland, will host a news conference on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, to announce a significant individual contribution to the university’s Faculty of Medicine, specifically in the areas of medical education and genetics research.
Dr. Kachanoski will be joined by Dr. James Rourke, dean, Faculty of Medicine, and Keith Hutchings, the province’s minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development, and the minister responsible for the Research & Development Corporation, and the minister responsible for the Rural Secretariat.
The event will take place at 11 a.m., in the main auditorium in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University. A reception will follow.
Media agencies are invited to send representatives to the event.
