SUBJECT: Day 2 of Memorial’s annual fall celebrations ramps up the fun coast to coast

DATE: October 27, 2010

Yesterday’s official opening of MUNdays got the party started and Day 2 continues with Memorial University’s annual fall celebrations on campuses in Corner Brook and St. John’s.
Anticipation has been building for weeks and today the Memorial community will get to visit the Field House from 12-2 p.m. to diversify its skills and talents at the Health Circus by learning a new way to keep our hearts happy. Sample anything from Latin-inspired Zumba dance class to Ultimate Frisbee to Beni Malone’s Wonderbolt circus tricks. Then don’t miss a MUNdays highlight at the Rant like Rick contest, where one Memorial student will be crowned this year’s champion and receive $1,000 in cash for their best Rick Mercer-style rant. This year, the East Rock Crew will perform a breakout breakdancing routine sometime during the rants. It happens from 3:30-5 p.m. in The Landing, University Centre.
Another $1,000 is at stake at this year’s Outside the Box Challenge, where teams compete in a series of mind-boggling contests from 7-10 p.m. in the MUN gym, PE-2000.
In the evening, check out international students belting out their favourite tunes in their native tongue at International YouTube Karaoke Night from 8-11 p.m. at Bitters pub. Finish the night at The Breezeway’s Open Mic Night which gets started at 10:30 p.m.

Grenfell Campus
The fun continues in Corner Brook with Fall Advising Daze from
10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Crossroads in the Arts and Science building, and an exploration of the ancient Chinese art of Qi Gong from 2-3 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Arts and Science building.
And try out Caddy Stacks: Library Mini Golf, where you can show off your putting skills at the library’s mini golf course made of – what else? – books! Get a hole-in-one on the spiral staircase and win a prize. It’s all happening from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Ferris Hodgett Library.
Then, at 3:30 p.m., the brisk Campus Dash kicks off I Fell for Grenfell’s Official Launch and Barbecue. Join the crowd at the GCSU Food Court and back lawn of the Arts and Science building for an obstacle course and end-of-summer eats.
In the evening, take in a Green Book Event by Wayne Roberts, author of The No-Nonsense Guide to World Food. It will be a night of ideas, live music, an art exhibition, a book signing, hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Show up for 7 p.m.
More information about I Fell for Grenfell is available online. Meantime, a schedule for I Love MUNdays is also on the web.
