SUBJECT: Grenfell: New information technology courses developed at Community Education

With software programs ever evolving, it can be difficult to stay on top of using applications in an efficient, effective and controlled manner. That’s why Community Education has developed five new programs to help you master new Microsoft products as well as protect personal information and documents.
Microsoft Office 2007 for Home Users and Beginners runs Wednesdays, 7-10 p.m., Feb. 3-March 10, and will improve your efficiency when using Word, Excel and Publisher.
Microsoft Office Integration will take place on Tuesdays, 7-10 p.m., March 23-April 13, and will focus on the integration of information between programs such as Excel, Access, Word and Outlook.
Those who have been confused by Microsoft Office’s 2007 product will be relieved to attend Guides to the Ribbon, which will explain where all your favourite 2003 commands are now hiding. This course is being held Monday, Jan. 25, 7-10 p.m.
Complicated text and tables can be simplified using Visio 2007. A Roadmap to Visio 2007, running April 12 and 19, 7-10 p.m., will help participants visualize, document, communicate, and share ideas using professional-looking flowcharts, office layouts, organization charts and more.
Finally, Protect Yourself Online: Understanding Your Computer will teach critical strategies to stay safe on the internet. Topics include identity theft, protecting your computer against viruses and hackers, avoiding e-mail and Internet scams and setting parental controls. This course takes place on Feb. 8 and 15, 7-10 p.m.
Regular information technology offerings include Computer Basics, Advanced Features of MS Excel, Basic Web Design Principles, Simply Accounting and Navigating the Internet with Ease.
