A first-time offering of a performance coaching program will help participants learn employee and team coaching methods to improve workplace performance.
Performance Coaching, offered in partnership with Memorial University’s Centre for Management Development, places emphasis on the need for on going feedback. The program is highly interactive and experiential, with exercises and group discussion focusing on the experiences of the participants.
Facilitator Travor Brown will guide participants as they learn about team direction, individual coaching of employees, dealing with poor performers, identification of legal issues associated with performance coaching and practicing coaching techniques.
Dr. Travor Brown is an associate professor (human resources and labour relations) with the Faculty of Business Administration, Memorial University. Dr. Brown has a BA from Memorial University, a master’s of industrial relations (University of Toronto) and a Ph.D. (University of Toronto). This education is coupled with 15 years of human resources and consulting experience in Canada and the United States. Dr. Brown’s expertise has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. He has presented at provincial, national and international conferences and has published in numerous journals, where he often focuses on issues of employee and management development. In addition, he currently holds a three-year national SSHRC grant for research in the area of management training effectiveness.
The course will take place Tuesday, Jan. 22, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Registration includes all teaching materials, certificate of attendance, lunch and refreshments.
