SUBJECT: Grenfell - Grenfell College Career Fair 2007 to connect grads with employers

DATE: September 26, 2007

Post-secondary students or graduates who are looking for employment or just want to investigate future opportunities should check out Grenfell College Career Fair 2007.
The career fair, being organized by Student Affairs at Grenfell College, will be held Thursday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Graduates and soon-to-be grads from any post-secondary institution are welcome to attend this free event.
“This is an excellent opportunity for any student or grad focused on starting his or her career,” said Lorna Payne, co-ordinator of Grenfell College’s Learning Centre. “Current students can practice self-marketing to get their names and faces out there, while graduates will be able to network with source personnel from a range of industries.”
She added that she would like to see participants attend from all over the western region.
“We’re bringing all these companies and organizations together in one location to make it easier for students and graduates to access them,” she said. “It’s a sort of ‘one-stop shop’ – anyone who’s been involved in a thorough job search will tell you how time consuming it is. It’s a full-time job to find employment. By centralizing the recruiters, we hope to make that search a little easier.”
Students and graduates will be afforded the chance to investigate employment prospects, possible career paths and current hiring trends, as well as learn what these companies do in the run of a day. Participants should have multiple copies of their resumés on hand.
The recruiters who will be attending will represent companies and organizations such as Coleman’s, Investors Group, the Canadian Forces, the Aurum Group, the Federal Public Service Commission, the Western Integrated Health Authority and ICT Group.
