MI Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards

Memorial University offers its students nearly more than 1300 scholarships, bursaries and awards from entrance to undergraduate and graduate. Your support in this area can make a difference for a Memorial student.

Scholarships, bursaries and awards are available to students studying in diploma, undergraduate or graduate programs at any of Memorial's campuses.

Memorial offers three types of student financial aid: scholarships, bursaries and awards.

Scholarship - A scholarship is based on academic performance and is awarded to the student with the highest average who meets the conditions of the scholarship. Scholarship standing is required and is defined as a minimum GPA of 3 out of a possible 4. Secondary eligibility criteria may be added, such as enrolment in a specific faculty, School or program.

Bursary – A bursary is based primarily on a student’s financial need and may be awarded to full-time students who have a minimum GPA of 2 out of a possible 4. As with scholarships, secondary eligibility criteria such as enrolment in a specific faculty, School or program may apply.

Award – An award is based primarily on a special characteristic. These characteristics may include things such as excellence in a particular course, or travel awards.
