Laser Ablation Split-Stream

Laser ablation split-steam (LASS) is special technique where the laser-ablated sample aerosol is split and directed into two ICPMS to allow simultaneous measurement of two different chemical systems for one sample. In this lab, U-Pb and Hf isotopes are routinely measured in zircons using LASS to obtain both datasets in one analytical session. U-Pb and Nd isotopes for monazites is another combination that has been successfully performed.
