I am honoured and grateful to have received the Dr. Leslie Harris scholarship.  This award has recognized my hard work and dedication while significantly reducing the financial burden of my studies.  I am pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) and would like to become a CPA after finishing the program.

Having such a scholarship to assist me, through any field of study I choose, is reassuring; having the knowledge that financing won’t inhibit my scholastic endeavours. What this scholarship means to her: I will be attending Memorial University in the Fall as a science student majoring in Behavioural Neuroscience. Receiving this scholarship was truly a great honour and I am very grateful to the Memorial University Scholarship Committee for having chosen me as a recipient.

Memorial University of Newfoundland and its Alumni Association have established these scholarships to honor former University President, Dr. Leslie Harris, and to recognize excellence of our students. Several scholarships, valued at a minimum of $16,000.00 ($4,000.00 annually for up to 4 years) will be awarded annually and may be renewed if first class and scholarship standing are maintained. These scholarships are tenable in all undergraduate programs at the University and will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid.

What this award means to him: It is truly an honour to be offered such a prestigious award as The Dr. Leslie Harris Memorial University Alumni Association Scholarship. Receiving it has not only had an immense impact on my drive to achieve success while learning at MUN, but has helped provide a sense of satisfaction toward all of the work that has been put in up to this point with respect to education, athletics, leadership and community involvement. What the scholarship means to her: First of all, I would like to thank the selection committee and the MUN Alumni Association for choosing

scholarship is also an extra incentive to do well in my chosen course of study, which at the moment in an Honours degree in Biochemistry, followed by medical or grad school.

It is also a satisfying reward for the effort I put in to school and allows me to endeavor in sports such as whitewater kayaking, which is normally financially difficult for students.
