Program of Study: Bachelor of Science (Honours)
Petr is completing his Bachelor of Science with an honours in Economics and a major in Pure Mathematics. Coming from a graduate background during his international studies, Petr adds a great deal of diversity and experience to his faculty. His contributions in his area of study are summed up by academic excellence, instructional experience, and profound research.
During his studies at Memorial, Petr has demonstrated significant impacts in the domains of academia. Petr currently maintains a 4.0 GPA in the faculty. He has achieved Dean’s List status in his program, as well. Additionally, he has held several assistant positions in the Departments of Economics and Mathematics. Multiple research projects have been conducted in the Collaborative Applied Research in Economics (CARE) as well as in Economic Transformation. Summing up his assistant roles, he has also been a teaching assistant for a mathematics professor at MUN. Petr goes further than assistant roles in his academic studies in which he is an instructor himself. He previous worked as a tutor in the Department of Economics Help Centre to assist the needs of other students studying in the subject area. Also in the realm of educating others, Petr has presented at the 43rd Annual Conference of the Atlantic Provinces Political Science Association, the 8th Annual Economics Student Conference, and the Philosophy Graduate Conference at MUN. Finally, presenting in the Linguistics Graduate Seminar at MUN, he expanded his area of scientific rigour to speak about the topic of “On Heidegger’s relation to Hegel” in 2016.
Treading territory in different areas outside of campus, Petr commenced with a strong Liberal Arts background from Europe. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at the Charles University Prague in the Czech Republic. He carries a lot of this former experience as a solid base for his successful performance in the Faculty of Science at Memorial. Receiving numerous scholarships, bursaries, and presentation experience, it is clear that his excellence transcends the fields of arts and science.
Throughout his undergraduate studies, Petr has received various impressive awards and scholarships, including:
