SUBJECT: Welcome for new students at Memorial University’s Orientation 2013

This public service announcement replaces previously issued public service announcement No.174.
Next week, students are back in class at Memorial University, and the first stop for newcomers on all campuses – St. John’s, Grenfell and the Marine Institute – is Orientation 2013.
ST. JOHN’S CAMPUS
            Orientation for new undergraduate students at Memorial University’s
St. John’s campus takes place Monday, Sept. 2, and Tuesday, Sept. 3. On Labour Day Monday, students are welcomed with Orientation ceremonies, campus tours, free Memorial swag and opportunities to meet fellow students.
            Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. at the University Centre.
            On Tuesday, at the University Centre between 9 a.m. and
4:30 p.m., students can get their campus cards, rent lockers, check out Memorial’s student services and groups and enjoy live entertainment.
            For parents, there is a special Orientation on Labour Day Monday, Sept. 2, from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., starting in the Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation, with campus tours starting at 2:45 p.m.

            Graduate student orientation takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 3, from

GRENFELL CAMPUS
            On the west coast, more than 300 first-year students are registered for Orientation 2013 at Grenfell Campus. Get Informed sessions will teach students about attending classes, paying tuition and fees and the services available to them. Parent Orientation and Orientation sessions for non-traditional students have been also been planned. With activities ranging from fitness classes to social events, Orientation is also about having fun. Orientation 2013 will begin Sunday, Sept. 4, and will run until Sept. 6.             Campus City Connect Orientation activities will run concurrently. This joint effort of the city's colleges, university and the City of Corner Brook includes a Party in the Park, Three Bear Open Air massive outdoor concert, Opportunity Expo, drive-in movie and a GCSU concert featuring Matt Mays with the Fortunate Ones.             All new graduate students at Memorial University are invited to Graduate Orientation on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Graduate Orientation is designed to help graduate students in their unique transition to graduate school. MARINE INSTITUTE
