    Official Opening of the Alexander Murray Building to house the Department of Earth Sciences and the Center for Earth Resources Research (CERR).

    Installation of Dr. Arthur W. May as President and Vice-Chancellor of Memorial University.

    Official opening of the CSU/MUN Childcare Centre.

    Official opening of the Glenn Roy Blundon Center.

    Sir Wilfred Grenfell College confers bachelor of fine arts degrees on the first graduates of its new theatre arts and visual arts degree programs.

    Official opening of the Animal Care/Biotechnology Building.

  • October 29, 1994
    Installation of John C. Crosbie as Chancellor of Memorial University. Convocation Address by Chancellor Crosbie.

  • February 11, 1997
    Senate approves bachelor of recreation (co-operative) degree in the School of Physical Education and Athletics.

  • March 25, 1997
    Official launch of the Opportunity Fund Campaign.

  • May 25, 1998
    Official launch of the Festival of Anniversaries at the former Parade Street campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of Memorial University College in 1925, the 50th anniversary of the creation of Memorial University of Newfoundland as a degree-granting institution in 1949, the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Marine Institute in 1964, and the 25th anniversary of the opening of Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook in 1975.

  • October 21, 1998
    Gala Concert held in the Cook Recital Hall in the School of Music to help launch the university's Festival of Anniversaries. The Festival of Anniversaries encompasses two years of celebrations to mark several significant dates, including the 50th anniversary of Memorial University in 1999 and the 75th anniversary of Memorial University College in 2000. This event was attended by some 200 people and included fomer employees and students of Memorial University College.

  • Sept.1, 1999
    Dr. Axel Meisen succeeded Dr. May. Dr. Meisen was appointed president and vice-chancellor of Memorial.

  • October 21, 1999
    Installation of Dr. Axel Meisen as President and Vice-Chancellor of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Convocation Address by Dr. Meisen.
