Graduate Admissions

Master's Program -- Admission

Admission is competitive. To be considered for admission, you should hold an honours degree or equivalent, and have a breadth of knowledge in Gender Studies. If you do not meet these requirements, the Gender Studies Graduate Advisory Committee may require that you complete one or more undergraduate course(s).

When applying, in addition to the formal application, academic transcripts and letters of reference, you are also asked to provide a sample of your written work, preferably an honours dissertation, published work or undergraduate paper.

Prospective students please go to for more information.

Financial Assistance

Typically, all graduate students admitted on a full-time basis to the Master of Gender Studies program will receive some funding for a two-year duration.

A number of graduate assistantship positions are available to students registered full-time in the program. Candidates with the appropriate academic records are recommended for School of Graduate Studies Fellowships, and are strongly urged to apply for Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Masters scholarships.

Students who wish to be considered for admission and funding should normally submit their completed applications by 15 January. We normally admit students only in September.
