Energy Systems and Controls

The Energy Systems and Controls (ESC) division of Operations and Maintenance is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all primary mechanical, HVAC, and building control systems for the campus. ESC is mandated to monitor and track utility costs by implementing various tools to help reduce consumption while maintaining a quality learning and work environment. The group protects equipment and collects data to develop energy management and building maintenance strategies.

ESC also recovers energy costs from various groups on campus, including revenue-generating groups, federal and provincial agencies. The procedure on the recovery of energy is:

Where groups use university facilities for the providing of contracted revenue-generating activities, the revenues realized from those activities shall fund incremental facility and energy costs.
