Electrical

Facilities Management is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all primary electrical services connected to university electrical grid as well as for the distribution of emergency power on campus and fire alarm systems in university buildings. Electrical services staff are available 24/7 providing emergency services.

Light fixtures, switches and receptacles are repaired and lightbulbs and fluorescent tubes are replaced as part of routine maintenance.

Any heaters, permanent or portable, should be requested and installation approved by Facilities Management. If a number of electrical devices are to be added to a circuit, consult Electrical personnel via Work Control for safe operation.

Electrical services such as supply of electrical power bars and installation of jiffy poles and raceways are available from Facilities Management. These services will require departmental funding, in which case estimates are provided.

Requests for major electrical modification or services, general and/or emergency electrical system inquiries can be directed to Work Control at 709-864-7600 or by e-mailing facman@mun.ca.
