Disturbing, threatening and violent behavior

Every member of the Memorial University community has the right to study, work and live in a safe, non-threatening environment. Memorial University is committed to providing and maintaining such an environment. 

The Office of the Chief Risk Officer is holding information sessions for everyone on campus to help you recognize these behaviors and what you should do about them.

You have a duty to report behaviour which you see as disturbing, threatening or violent, and which could negatively impact members of the university community.

Any reports should be made to Campus Enforcement Patrol and/or the co-ordinator on the appropriate campus.

Disturbing, threatening or violent behaviour includes:

  • Destructive
  • Harmful or threatening to others
  • Suicidal
  • Risk taking
  • Hostile/aggressive
  • Poor self-care/judgement
  • Substance abuse or self-medication
  • Emotionally troubled
  • Lack of trust and suspicion of others
  • Aggression
