Events

The Economics Society organizes an annual Best Paper Competition and supports its members with participation in the Bank of Canada Governor's Challenge. We also organize guest speakers and networking and social events in support of our mandate.

Speaker Events

Expand your understanding of economics by attending our engaging speaker events featuring renowned professors from Canada and around the globe. These presentations cover a wide range of topics—from cutting-edge research and emerging economic theories to practical applications in policy and business. These sessions offer you a valuable opportunity to learn directly from experts, ask questions, and stay updated on the latest trends and developments in the field of economics. Whether you’re an undergraduate just starting out or a graduate student deepening your knowledge, these talks are designed to inspire and challenge your thinking.

Networking and Social Events

Our networking and social events are the perfect chance to unwind, connect, and build lasting relationships within the Memorial Economics community. Join us for informal gatherings over coffee and pizza, where you can meet fellow students from different years and programs. These relaxed settings provide a welcoming environment to strike up conversations, exchange ideas, and share experiences. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to learn from more senior students who can offer valuable insights into the economics program, research opportunities, and career pathways. Whether you’re looking to make new friends, find study partners, or explore potential mentors, our social events are designed to help you feel supported and connected throughout your academic journey.
