While summer is busy in the department with research labs having extra personnel hired, we don’t have a lot to report in news.  However, our listed items are important as we celebrate individual and group accomplishments.

At the Employee Service Awards ceremonies in June, Christine Squire was recognized for 30 years of service, Dr. Gene Herzberg for 35 years, and Dr. Sean Brosnan for 40 years.  That’s a tremendous achievement for all three and we are quite proud of them.

The department participated in the Campus Food Bank’s 12 Days of Giving food drive again this year.  Our giving is usually quite generous and we’ve a history of being the largest donor among university departments.  Results aren’t out yet for 2013 so while we don’t know our standing, we can be proud of the large amount we have collected.
