Aquarena Pool

Originally constructed for the 1977 Canada Summer Games, the Aquarena is the only 50-metre pool in the province. It is currently under renovation with a number of planned upgrades such as a new spectator seating area and diving platforms. In 2025, Canada Games athletes will enjoy an excellent sporting experience that meets the most up-to-date Canada Games standards, and after the Games, our community will gain a modern facility in which to learn, compete and have fun in for years to come. The Aquarena will host artistic swimming, swimming and diving competitions.

Field House

Memorial’s 6,800-square-meter exercise facility is home to an indoor 200m running track, a hardwood basketball court, a fitness centre and a second-level walking track. The building is connected to the MUN pool facilities, which can be viewed through a large glass wall. It is also linked to the Aquarena, and its Olympic-sized pool, by an overhead walkway. The Field House will host basketball and volleyball competitions during the Games.

Fortis Canada Games Complex

Currently under construction, the Fortis Canada Games Complex is a world-class multi-use recreation and sports complex. The facility is being built for the 2025 Canada Games but like its neighbor, the Aquarena, it will contribute to a lasting legacy within the community long after the Games close. The complex features: a Class II IAAF Certified track & field including a 400m 8-lane track, a FIFA Quality Pro Certified artificial soccer turf and an indoor training facility for the development of amateur level sport in Newfoundland & Labrador. The complex will allow for year-round training opportunities for provincial track and field athletes as well as other sports. The Fortis Canada Games Complex will host athletics (track & field) and soccer competitions.
