Kathryn Lear

Welcome director of Operations, Conference Services and Events

The team at Signal Hill Campus (SHC) is delighted to welcome Jordan Wright as director of Operations, Conference Services and events, effective April 27.

While Mr. Wright is new to the role, he is not a stranger to Memorial University or SHC. In his previous role as manager of the Office of the Associate Vice-President (Facilities), he worked on the university’s overall infrastructure planning, which includes capital renewal and new construction projects. He was heavily involved throughout the planning and development of Signal Hill Campus, initially serving as lead for client planning during the purchase and transformation of the old Battery Hotel, and was also very active in the public engagement process for the redevelopment project. Mr. Wright has also worked with units in the Emera Innovation Exchange, including Memorial’s Office of Public Engagement and the Gardiner Centre.

Mr. Wright also brings experience from private, public and not-for profit sectors both locally and nationally, where he has contributed in a variety of areas including: marketing and communications, human resource development, consulting, economic and business development projects, and project management. He has worked with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour and is the incoming director of Memorial’s Shad program which focuses on STEAM and entrepreneurship.

Mr. Wright holds a masters of business administration and bachelor of arts (French & economics) from Memorial University, as well as a masters certificate in project management from York University’s Schulich Executive Education Centre and the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) project management professional (PMP) designation. He is past president of the PMI NL chapter and is a former national vice-president of Canadian Parents for French. While you won’t be seeing him on Signal Hill Campus given the current COVID-19 situation, you can be sure that he is accepting the challenge of transitioning into his new role during this difficult time. Mr. Wright looks forward to becoming even more acquainted with the clients, community groups, staff, students and stories that make up the Signal Hill Campus Community. If you are interested in connecting with him, he can be reached at jwwright@mun.ca.
