Awarded to the PGY-1 who displays exceptional patient care and academic ability and serves as the "glue" of the class, elevating the PGY-1 experience through kindness, compassion, and reliability.

Presented to the resident who embodies the "Heart of Medicine." This individual is recognized for exceptional empathy, advocacy for patient-centered care, and maintaining a humanistic approach in Internal Medicine.

Outstanding Resident Teacher Award
Awarded to the resident who excels at the education of their peers and medical students, demonstrating a passion for mentorship and teaching.

Recognizes a resident who has taken an active leadership role in improving the program, whether through committee work, administrative excellence, or advocacy.

Dr. Missan Postgraduate Cardiology Scholarship in Medicine.
This award honours the late Dr. Sarab Missan, a well-known and respected cardiologist who practiced in Newfoundland and Labrador. It is awarded each year to the resident who excels at the practice of cardiology.

Dean David Hawkins Award for Resident Teaching in Medicine.
The award is given annually to the internal medicine resident who best exemplifies the qualities of teacher and mentor in medicine in the Faculty of Medicine as nominated by the students in clinical clerkship.

Dr. Cameron Raffard Medical Resident Health Advocacy Award
Awarded to an Internal Medicine for their essay that best exhibits Dr. Raffard's commitment to excellence in the intrinsic CanMEDS roles.
