Use three spaced periods to indicate an omission from a text or quotation. Add an additional period at the end of a sentence
- “The decision . . . was made with the full support of the board.”
Put spaces before, between and after the periods.
In condensing a text, use an ellipsis at the beginning, inside or at the end of a sentence.
However, in news stories, use an ellipsis only inside a sentence, not at the beginning or end.
