SUBJECT: Public lecture to examine the prophet Abraham in Judaism, Christianity and Islam

Memorial University will host an open discussion on Monday, March 7, on how Jews, Christians and Muslims feel about the patriarch/prophet Abraham. Speakers from the three religions will be: Arnold Bennett, filmmaker of The Newfoundland Passion and Messiah from Montreal; Dr. John Mellis, rector, Queen's College, Faculty of Theology, Memorial University; and Dr. Mahmoud Haddara, president, Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, professor of engineering, Memorial University. The lecture will start at 7:30 p.m. in room EN-2006 of the Engineering Building on Memorial University’s St. John’s campus. Refreshments will be served following the lecture. Free parking is available in Lot 16, next to the student centre. The lecture is sponsored by the Hebrew Congregation of Newfoundland and Labrador, Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, St. John'sand Area Council of Churches and Canadian Heritage.
