Media representatives are invited to attend the official funding announcement of the NSERC CREATE Training Program in Persistent, Emerging, and Oil PoLlution Mitigation in Cold Marine Environments (PEOPLE CREATE) on Thursday, July 11.
The program is one of 18 research projects across Canada to receive funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council’s (NSERC) Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) program.
Participants include parliamentary secretary to the minister, Science and Sport, Kate Young, on behalf of Kirsty Duncan, minister, Science and Sport; Nick Whalen, member of Parliament for St. John’s East; Alfred LeBlanc, vice-president, communications, corporate and international affairs directorate, NSERC; Dr. Noreen Golfman, provost and vice-president (academic), Memorial University; and Dr. Bing Chen, professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, and director, NRPOP Laboratory.
The event will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Suncor Energy Offshore Research and Development Centre’s main boardroom (EN-2100) in the Engineering building on Memorial's St. John’s campus.
