SUBJECT: Public invited to Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science open house
DATE: March 9
Memorial University’s Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science will host a public open house as part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month.
The family-friendly event will take place in the Engineering building on Memorial’s St. John’s campus on Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The open house will begin in the main foyer of the engineering building with information booths and guided tours of its working laboratories. The whole family will enjoy learning about the real-world applications of engineering.
Learn about the latest manufacturing techniques in the faculty’s 3-D Rapid Protoyping Laboratory, and catch a glimpse of a new simulator that is being designed to improve safety at sea. Visit the Structures Laboratory—where things are made to be broken—and the faculty’s wind tunnel will “blow you away.” Kids will definitely want to meet our humanoid robot, Nao, who will dance with them and tell them all about the cool world of engineering. There will be prizes, too!
Visitors can also learn about the faculty’s engineering co-operative education programs and research activities.
Admission is free and there is free parking in lot 22, east of the Business Administration building.
Representatives from the media are invited to attend.
