SUBJECT: Anatomy lends a teaching hand at Memorial University
DATE: April 30
Have you ever seen a heart up close or held one in your own hand? Well, now you can on Saturday, May 2, from 1-5 p.m. during a public exhibition titled Body Works.
Body works is a collection of plastinated anatomical specimens prepared by Dr. Shakti Chandra, a professor of anatomy at Memorial’s Faculty of Medicine.
The collection will be on display in the Faculty of Medicine building adjacent to the Health Sciences Centre on the east side of Clinch Crescent.
The exhibition is an opportunity to view real bones and organs that have been plastinated. There will also be an artificial joint, healthy lungs, a smoker’s lungs, a heart with a coronary bypass, a cirrhotic liver and a normal liver on display. Whole bodies will also be displayed.
Members of the public are encouraged to come meet Dr. Chandra, discover the world of plastination and learn about your body, inside and out.
