SUBJECT: Public lecture at Memorial University to explore about how diversity strengthens engineering

The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science will host a public lecture to talk about how diversity strengthens engineering on Thursday, Feb. 13.
A panel of engineers will discuss the current state of women in engineering, present workforce perspectives and engineering education for a changing world, not only from a womans perspective but from perspectives on diversity understood more broadly.
The panel includes Gloria Montano, president, Women in Science and Engineering Newfoundland and Labrador (WISE NL); Janna Rosales, assistant professor, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University; and Cecilia Moloney, professor, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, Memorial University.
This Speaking of Engineering Lecture is part of Engage Memorial 2014. Panellists will also discuss how public engagement can inform and influence how and where engineers can apply their skills and knowledge for the broader benefit of society.
This Speaking of Engineering lecture series, hosted by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University and sponsored by the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m., in the S. J. Carew (Engineering) buildings Angus Bruneau Engineering Lecture Theatre, room EN-2006, on Memorials St. Johns campus. Admission is free. Parking is available in lot 16. All are welcome. Reception to follow.
