SUBJECT: Memorial University to hold vigil honouring women of l’École Polytechnique

DATE: Dec. 6

Memorial University is inviting members of the community to attend the Dec. 6 Vigil on Memorial University’s St. John’s campus today, Thursday, Dec. 6.
In 1989 fourteen women were killed because of their gender at l’École Polytechnique in Montreal, Que. The anniversary coincides with the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women established in 1991 by the Parliament of Canada.
This year is the 23rd anniversary of the tragedy. The vigil will be held in EN-2006 in the Engineering building. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a small reception in the main foyer.
Free parking is available in lots marked 16 and 16A.
