SUBJECT: Memorial University to hold vigil honouring women of lÉcole Polytechnique
DATE: Nov. 28
Students, faculty and staff will hold a vigil on Memorial Universitys St. Johns campus Tuesday, Dec. 6, to commemorate the 1989 Montreal Massacre and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
The vigil will be held in EN-2006 in the Engineering (S.J. Carew) building and begin at 6:30 p.m. A small reception will be held in the main foyer after the vigil.
The event will be approximately an hour in length and will include a candlelight procession of 14 Memorial students representing the 14 women killed in 1989 at lÉcole Polytechnique in Montreal, Que. Lorraine Michael, MHA and leader of the NDP provincial party, will give a keynote address.
Free parking is available in lots marked 16 and 16A.
