SUBJECT: Montreal Massacre vigil to go ahead Monday, Dec. 7

Note to editors:
A vigil will take place on Monday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial University’s Engineering Building (EN-2006) to mark the 20th anniversary of the deaths of 14 women as they studied and worked at Montreal’s l’École Polytechnique.
The event was postponed yesterday, Sunday, Dec. 6, due to a snowstorm. It will go ahead this evening, Monday, Dec. 7.
The event will include a candlelight procession and special readings, and will be emceed by Kate Bride from the Department of Women’s Studies. Musician Nikki Janes will perform and guest speakers include New Democrat Leader Lorraine Michael.
Media agencies are encouraged to attend.
