SUBJECT: Grenfell: Fourth-year VA student to open graduating solo exhibition

DATE: March 27

Grenfell visual arts student Allen Walbourne, will exhibiting his graduating solo show titled Now I Think I Know at the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre April 7-30.
The artwork is a culmination of the four years of experience gained in the visual arts (BFA) program with a central practice of textile work, mixed media and sculpture.
In 2007 the acceptance of a textile sculpture piece into the Rooms Provincial Art Bank gave Walbourne the direction he needed to pursue his textiles/mixed media practice. The current exhibition will display the artist’s fascination with colour, pattern and texture while presenting subtle comments on his views of social issues. The human and botanical figures displayed are the messengers that relate the work to natural and manufactured narratives.
The exhibition opening will be held April 7, 3-6 p.m., Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre.
