SUBJECT: James Burke, noted science and technology author, to deliver Angel lecture

Noted science historian and author James Burke will deliver the 2003 F. W. Angel Memorial Lecture at the D. F. Cook Recital Hall, School of Music, on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. His lecture is titled Innovation and Change: Exploring the Key Role of Information in the Historical Process of Innovation and How This Will Change in the Future. The lecture is open to the public and there is no admission charge. Parking will be available in area 15, located to the east of the Music Building on Memorial's St. John's campus.

James Burke's books include Circles, The Knowledge Web, Connections, The Day the Universe Changed and The Pinball Effect. His most recent book is Twin Tracks: the Unexpected Origins of the Modern World. He has written a monthly column for Scientific American, and served as director, writer and host of the television series Connections. He speaks frequently on the subject of technology and social change to such audiences as NASA, MIT, IBM, Microsoft, the European Parliament and the World Affairs Council. He lives in London, England.
