The six-week Global Village program is aimed at giving students opportunities to learn about business in a multicultural environment. Internationally-recognized professors and top-level executives from some of the world's biggest companies, including Merrill Lynch, AT&T and Kraft, will teach students about the nuances of cross-cultural communication and business.
Ms. Trask is in her fourth year of the bachelor of commerce (co-operative) program at Memorial. "When I heard about the Global Village, I knew it was something I wanted to experience," she said. "The thought of meeting high-ranking executives and future business leaders from all over the world thrills me. Having the chance to sit and meet with them, listen to their experiences, ask questions and learn about business on a global scale is just amazing. I am extremely excited about this opportunity."
The Global Village balances an intense academic program with several opportunities to gain hands-on experience. As part of the practical program, each student is a member of a corporate project team. Over the six weeks, the teams will work on developing a solution to a business problem for a real company. Participants also prepare a presentation about themselves and their home country. The program runs from June 21-Aug. 2.
