SUBJECT: Grenfell - Memorial Presents lecture series to travel to Grenfell College

DATE: March 21

Note to editors/producers:
The media are invited to attend the Memorial Presents lecture being held at Grenfell College on Monday, April 2, 7:30 p.m., LC301, Library and Computing Building.
Dr. Murray Rudd, Grenfell’s Canada Research Chair in ecological economics, will present “What is Nature Worth? Looking at Our Natural Resources through New Eyes” early next month. He will be accompanied by three panelists. Dr. Ratana Chuenpagdee is a faculty member in the Department of Geography at Memorial University in St. John’s, specializing in natural resource sustainability and community development. Dan Chaisson is the manager of outdoor product with the Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, based in Corner Brook.  And Jim Taylor is general manager of the Western Newfoundland Model Forest, also located on at Grenfell College.
The presentation will address the issue of “valuing natural resources.” From seal hunts to restaurant boycotts – natural resources have been the cause of many clashes of opinions. Come along and learn whether a bridge can be created when two opposite points of view conflict in this way.
Sir Wilfred Grenfell College wants to see Memorial Presents is a program of the Leslie Harris Centre of Regional Policy and Development.
