SUBJECT: Call for nominations for Memorial University's Alumni Tribute Awards

The Alumni Association of Memorial University of Newfoundland is seeking nominations for the second annual Alumni Tribute Awards. This is the 22nd year that the association has recognized excellence among the graduates of Memorial University. Newly expanded in 2002, the Alumni Tribute Awards are designed to increase the level of recognition for a greater number of the outstanding women and men who are Memorial University's alumni. The deadline for submitting nomination packages this year is June 30, 2003. The five awards will be presented at a gala ceremony in late fall, 2003. The five awards are:

    Alumni Award for Lifetime Achievement
    The award of highest distinction, the Lifetime Achievement Award, singles out individuals with a remarkable career of professionalism and service.

    J.D. Eaton Alumni Award
    This award recognizes outstanding volunteer service to the university. Nominees will be alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and outstanding volunteer service to Memorial University or the Alumni Association.

    Alumni Horizon Award
    Alumni age 35 years or younger with a record of extraordinary professional, community, alumni or academic achievement are eligible for nomination for this award.

    Alumni Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement
    This award recognizes achievement of professional excellence and distinction.

    Alumni Award for Outstanding Community Service
    Alumni who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of people and their communities may be nominated for this award.

To be eligible for nomination for the Alumni Tribute Awards, individuals must have received a degree, diploma, certificate or honorary degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland or Memorial University College. The awards program gala event Tribute 2003: A Celebration of Alumni Excellence will be announced at a later date.
