SUBJECT: PSA: Public lecture: Developing the materials of tomorrow

DATE: November 14, 2019

Can artificial intelligence, high-throughput quantum chemistry and robotics accelerate materials discovery? That question will be answered at an upcoming public lecture at Memorial University.

Dr.  Alán Aspuru-Guzik is a professor with the University of Toronto’s departments of chemistry and computer science. He is designing and implementing materials acceleration platforms to develop the materials of tomorrow, today.

His research combines computer science, chemistry and physics to create self-driving laboratories, which promise to accelerate the rate of scientific discovery.

Dr. Aspuru-Guzik will describe his efforts at a public lecture, titled The Materials for Tomorrow, Today, which is being hosted by the Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science at Memorial.

It will take place Monday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation, room IIC-2001. Limited free parking will be available in lot 17 and a reception will follow. All are welcome.
