Memorial University to celebrate Johnson Geo Centre gift

 

Memorial University will officially celebrate and thank the Johnson Family Foundation and members of the Johnson family for their gift of the Johnson Geo Centre on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 3:30 p.m.

Originally announced on March 29, 2019, the gift of the Johnson Geo Centre, including the Geo Park and adjacent lands under lease from the provincial government, are estimated to be valued at more than $20 million.

This event will also include current and special Geo Centre exhibits for viewing, with a designated pre-event viewing period for media from 2-3 p.m.

Dr. Noreen Golfman, provost and vice-president (academic), Memorial University; Premier Dwight Ball; Bruce Grant, former chair, Johnson Geo Centre Foundation board of directors; and members of the Johnson family will be on hand with special guests, senior university and government officials, friends and supporters to mark this occasion. The event will take place at the Johnson Geo Centre at 175 Signal Hill Rd. Parking is available in the Geo Centre parking lot. Please note: Guided tours of current and special Geo Centre exhibits will be available to media from 2-3 p.m. before official proceedings begin at 3:30 p.m.
