2017-2018

News Release

REF NO.: 47

SUBJECT: PSA: Pollinator Day at the MUN Botanical Garden, this Saturday

DATE: August 15, 2018

Join us and the Newfoundland and Labrador Beekeeping Association (NLBKA) as we celebrate pollinators and all that they do for us.  Why? Not only are pollinators fun and exciting (there are more than 200,000 species of insects worldwide that act as pollinators!) they are critical to the health and productivity of our native and agricultural ecosystems. In fact, our province is home to a wide variety of species of native bees, butterflies, and flies, and other important pollinators.

Find out how you can help protect these amazing creatures, and have some fun too. Come dressed up as your favourite pollinator, flutter around the garden, visit our beehive, make your own pollinator house, and add your name to the pollinator protectors club.

Pollinator Day Activities include honey tasting, tours to the beehive, making a bee house, a pollinator photo booth, a display of beekeeping equipment, sales of beeswax candles, and a chance to support the NLBKA and provide early food for bees by ordering spring bulbs.
