SUBJECT: PSA: Saving the CBC: A Public Forum

A discussion at Memorial University scheduled for this Friday, Oct. 3, will speak to the crisis in Canadian public broadcasting.

Speakers will include Ian Morrison, spokesperson for the Friends of Canadian Broadcasting, and Wade Rowland, a faculty member at York University and a former print and television journalist who served in management at both CTV and the CBC.

The issues addressed will include budget cuts, the loss of hockey revenue, the imbalance in private and public subsidization and what Canadians can do to ensure a viable future for their national broadcaster.

Saving the CBC: A Public Forum takes place on the St. John’s campus in room 2018A of the Education building on Friday, Oct.3, from 1-3 p.m.

Sponsors include the Atlantic Provinces Political Science Association, the Vice-President (Academic)’s Scholarship in the Arts program, Memorial University’s Department of Political Science and Friends of Canadian Broadcasting.
