SUBJECT: PSA: Memorial University Childcare Centre closing for repairs

The Memorial Childcare Centre would like to inform the parents it serves that due to unforeseen circumstances the centre will be closed for two to four weeks starting Tuesday, March 3. However, alternate arrangements for short-term child care have been made elsewhere on campus beginning Thursday, March 5.
Recently, a break in the sprinkler line occurred on the centre’s second floor; subsequently, water leaked under the floorboards. As a result, some parts of the floors throughout the centre must be replaced in order to prevent further damage. Currently, there is no health risk to children. However, if left unrepaired, more damage may be caused.
These repairs are necessary to fulfill the centre’s ultimate goal to provide a safe, healthy environment.
Memorial’s Facilities Management estimates the repairs will take two to four weeks to complete.
Officials at the centre are contacting parents and will keep them up to date on the progress.
