News Release

REF NO.: 58

SUBJECT: Be still our hearts: MUNdays over for another year

DATE: October 28, 2014

Memorial University’s annual fall celebrations may come to a close today, Tuesday, Oct. 28, but there is still much fun to be had!

First off, it’s Touque Day! The university community invites everyone to open their closets and hearts to help the MacMorran Community Centre by collecting gently used winter clothing. For your donation, you’ll receive a great I ♥ Touque Day hat! Adult and children’s clothing is welcome at ED-1032 and ED-2000 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Also today, there will be a Multicultural Arts and Crafts Market at The Landing in the University Centre from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.! Students and community members will be showcasing and selling items from various countries and nations from around the world. Don’t miss it!

As well, the university-wide Health Challenge is on. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. the university community will put its collective hearts to good work. We’ll be hopping as we try and break our record of laps around the Field House track again this year! In 2013, the final tally came in at 5,424 laps, which shattered the 2012 record of 4,775. Zoom!

After putting in time at the track, everyone is invited to take a well-deserved break and drop into the University Centre (UC) food court for the UC Lounge from 10 a.m-2 p.m. Comfy couches and some live tunes by local DJs will build the energy back up.

After the chillin’ is done, sadly, MUNdays will come to an end. At 2 p.m. in the University Centre the Official Closing Ceremonies take place. It’s when we say goodbye to Memorial’s fun-filled spirit week for another year. Revealing the winners of the week-long Spirit Award Challenge (worth $1,000!) and the Instagram Photo Challenge (a total of $1,700 is up for grabs!) will help ease the pain, though.

See you during MUNdays 2015!
