DATE: October 9, 2014

Memorial University’s Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the 37th Annual Garden and Nature Art Exhibition taking place in November.

The exhibition is an annual event to encourage the photography and illustration of natural things. Interested artists are asked to submit original pieces which portray the physical world, where “nature” is defined as “anything that was not created by or has been substantially altered by humans.” This multimedia show has historically featured works from Newfoundland and Labrador artists of all ages.

The Garden and Nature Art Exhibition, on display in the Botanical Garden Field Centre from Friday, Nov. 7-Sunday, Nov. 30, will kick-off with an opening reception from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. This is an exclusive opportunity for the public to network with the artists who have their work on display. After this date, the exhibition will be on public view in both the conference room and display room of the field centre of the Botanical Garden, 306 Mount Scio Road, during usual working hours. Viewing hours may vary due to private bookings of the facility.

The garden will begin accepting entries from artists at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. The deadline to submit is 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31.

Interested artists are encouraged to submit their applications to Mandy Applin at mandy.applin@mun.ca by sending along a copy of the completed PDF form – located on the Botanical Garden website (www.mun.ca/botgarden).

The 37th Annual Garden and Nature Art Exhibit promises to be a spectacular show of local talent.
