SUBJECT: 17th anniversary of unveiling of Merchant Navy Memorial

Note to editors:
The Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association will hold the 17th anniversary of the unveiling of the Merchant Navy Memorial on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m.
The ceremony will take place at the Merchant Navy Memorial outside of the Marine Institute of Memorial University’s Ridge Road campus in St. John’s.
Relatives and families of veterans, the public and media are welcome to attend.
The 2014 commemoration is being held in conjunction with Merchant Navy Veterans Day, which is honoured annually on Sept. 3. The short program will consist of a civil and religious ceremony.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Marine Institute.
