2013-2014
News Release
REF NO.: 48
SUBJECT: Memorial releases Face Forward: Presidents Report 2013
DATE: November 5, 2013
Memorial University today released its annual retrospective publication, this year titled Face Forward: Presidents Report 2013. The report provides an overview of the universitys accomplishments across the span of teaching and learning, research and public engagement, as well as the work undertaken in administrative support and infrastructure development.
2012-13 was a significant year for Memorial University in many ways, noted President and Vice-Chancellor Gary Kachanoski. Guided by our new vision, mission and values and the three strategic frameworks, Memorial is well-positioned to continue its integral role in the provinces growth, development and success in the years ahead.
Some of the financial highlights from 2012-13 include about $128 million spent on research and associated infrastructure; $336 million total infrastructure investment in new labs, residences, teaching and research space, as well as planning for new core sciences infrastructure; and the culmination of the largest capital fundraising campaign in the provinces history, Dare To, which raised $67.2 million.
This years report represents a departure from the traditional print format and is the first time the report will be a stand-alone multimedia website. It can be shared via social media, and feedback can be sent to Memorial with the click of a button from within the report.
It was time to take our reporting to a digital platform, said Dr. Kachanoski. The responsive design, interactive elements and ability to easily get feedback from readers, combined with the environmental benefits of not printing a document, made the decision to move online a simple one.
