SUBJECT: PSA: Volunteers needed for innovative activity program

DATE: June 5, 2013

Kinesiology students from Memorial University are looking for volunteers for a new program aimed at helping people get active again after physical therapy.
The Ripple Effect is a new hydro wellness program for people with conditions such as stroke, chronic pain, cancer rehabilitation, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis and other conditions for up to two pool sessions per week. It will offer them a supportive environment with a low instructor-to-participant ratio.
Volunteers will be trained in first aid, CPR, safe pool practices and fitness instruction.
The fitness and wellness program will take place at the H.G.R. Mews Community Centre starting in the fall. If you'd like to get involved, contact Olivia Manning at ripplevolunteer@gmail.com or 709-728-5258.
