REF NO.: 26

SUBJECT: MUNdays packing a punch at Memorial University in 2012

DATE: October 16, 2012

Note to editors:
From Oct. 18-22, Memorial University will hold MUNdays, its yearly fall celebrations. At Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, festivities run Oct. 16-20.
Media representatives are invited to attend the official launch on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 9:15 a.m. in the Main Dining Hall on the St. John’s campus. In Corner Brook, the official launch gets underway on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 11:30 a.m. at the GCSU food court.
On the St. John’s campus, events fall under the banner of I Love MUNdays. I Fell for Grenfell takes place on the university’s west coast campus. I Love MI MUNdays take place at the Marine Institute in St. John’s.
Events range from boisterous and colourful Spirit Parades to a massive Memorial University community food drive to “fill the square” at Paton College to an American-style, pre-game Tailgate Party before the Sea-Hawks soccer teams take on St. Francis of Xavier at the King George V pitch in St. John’s. At Grenfell Campus, professors will get “pied” by students for charity and everyone will try and outrace each other during the Campus Dash. At the Marine Institute, a voyage aboard the Titanic will take place in the Centre for Marine Simulation and several theme days ranging from Pyjama Day to Sports Day will be on the schedule.
Below is just a selection of story and photo ideas for journalists, photographers and videographers.
A full slate of events and activities are planned, encouraging students, staff, faculty and alumni to come together and celebrate Memorial. Website listings for all three campus’s MUNdays schedules can be found at the end of this release.
