SUBJECT: Statoil and Research & Development Corporation to support new research chairs at Memorial University

Note to editors:
            Dr. Gary Kachanoski, president and vice-chancellor, Memorial University of Newfoundland, will host a news conference on Monday, Nov. 21, to announce a significant investment to create two new research chairs in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.
            Dr. Kachanoski will be joined by the Honourable Keith Hutchings, minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development and the minister responsible for the Research & Development Corporation; Hege Rogno, vice-president, offshore upstream, Statoil Canada; and Glenn Janes, chief executive officer, Research & Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
            The event will take place at 11 a.m., in the Bruneau Lecture Theatre, main floor, S. J. Carew (Engineering) building at Memorial University, on Arctic Avenue, off Prince Philip Drive. A reception will follow.
            Media agencies are invited to send representatives to the event. Limited parking for media is available in lot 60.
