SUBJECT: PSA: Year of India in Canada Film Festival

The High Commission of India continues its celebration of 2011, the Year of India in Canada, with an Indian film festival to be held at the St. John’s campus of Memorial University Sept. 22 – 25.
            Join us for these films, which offer comedy, action and drama, and feature Indian arts from classical ritual performance to Bollywood dance. To showcase a hint of the diversity of India, we have selected films in four different languages (Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Malayalam) but all will be screened with English subtitles. Screenings are free of charge and will be held in the Bruneau Centre, room 2001 (formerly known as the Inco Innovation Centre), beginning at 6:30 p.m.
            Supported by the Friends of India Association (Newfoundland), the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute and the Department of Religious Studies.
Thursday, Sept. 22 – Terre Bin LadenA tongue-in-cheek comedy about a young Pakistani desperate to migrate to the United States.
Friday, Sept. 23 – RaavanA richly atmospheric adaption of the Indian epic The Ramayana.
Saturday, Sept. 24 – AbohomaanA multiple award-winning film exploring love, family relationships and lost youth.
Sunday, Sept. 25 – Kal ChilambuThe tale of two different generations interwoven by the thread of customs and traditions.
